Flower themed Birthday Party
I have been meaning to share details from my eldest daughter Amaia’s flower themed birthday party for the last few weeks. From wrapping up the season to prepping the girls for back to school, I am just getting to it now and I cannot believe how fast summer came and went. I also can’t believe that our girl is 15! Reflecting back on the blog, I realize that the first party I shared here was for her 4th Birthday. Ever since she was a baby girl, I have loved helping her dream up these celebrations. Now that she’s older, the parties look a little different and although bittersweet, time continues to move forward and I’m just thankful to continue our special traditions.
Turning fifteen
My mini me is not so mini anymore. She has surpassed me in height and is getting ready to start Drivers Ed, all while balancing soccer, running and AP classes. When I look at the young lady she has become, I could not be more proud of her! She has a heart of gold and I’m certain that all the beautiful opportunities presented to her thus far are a reflection of the amazing and deserving person she is, inside and out. An infinite inspiration to me, I’m very blessed to be her mom.

Flower themed Birthday Party
There’s not one party for the girls that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed creating. Each year I look forward to the new ideas they come up with. This year Amaia decided on a flower theme, referenced from a gorgeous invite, which then inspired her entire celebration. Details included flower decor and flower themed desserts, activities and beverages. Party fun consisted of two celebrations, one with friends and another with family, flower cookie decorating and an outdoor movie night!

Flower themed party decorations
Decorations for Amaia’s 15th Flower party were a lot more scaled back than in years past. She requested no balloon garland, so we switched things up a had a variety of floating balloons in shades of gold, lavender and white instead. I also made floating flowers with fishing line (tutorial found on tiktok), flower crowns, flower centerpieces, a gorgeous flower ice mold and more.

Party Blooms
I’ve always loved that Amaia has a summer birthday! Not only is the weather most often beautiful, but the selection of seasonal flowers available always make for the prettiest centerpieces! We used roses, mums, babies breath and lavender to complete the look of the centerpieces and to elevate the party space!

Flower Crowns
I prepared 7 fresh flower crowns for Amaia and her friends to wear, using floral wire, floral tape, fresh roses, mums and babies breath. I have taken floral design classes in the past, but it has been some years since I last made flower crowns. Unfortunately I forgot to size them with the wire, so they were slightly small, but my girl and her friends still wore them and made them work for photos!

Flower cookie decorating
Amaia has decorated cookies with friends in the past and wanted to try it again, using the piped floral design technique, for a fun in-between activity! We baked off the sugar cookies and made multiple bags of frosting fitted with floral piping tips for her and her friends to decorate. They all did such a beautiful job!

Tableware
We ordered simple yet elegant gold rimmed cups, plates and silverware to tie in with the gold party decor. We also used lace table runners, taper candles and place settings, in addition to individual boxes for each guest to take home their cookies.
Many of the items, including some of the artificial flowers, boxes and floral wire were picked up at our local craft store.

Food & Beverage Menu
My pasta loving girl requested homemade pasta again this year for her 2nd party with family. We enjoyed that along with a variety of sauces, a large charcuterie board, and appetizers all garnished with edible blooms.

The beverage of the day was homemade lavender lemonade with color changing butterfly pea flower, transforming the color to a gorgeous purple.

And I couldn’t get over this floral ice bucket which was made using a mold from amazon! Not only was this a stunning table centerpiece but a perfect way to keep our beverages cold!

It wouldn’t be a party without dessert! Our menu consisted of many of Amaia’s favorite things, including cake and cupcakes with lemon curd, shared and enjoyed over her two celebrations.

Mini Birthday Cake
Each year I make a mini cake for our girl’s birthdays which has become an annual tradition in our family! This yearโs mini cake looked like a much smaller version of Amaia’s large birthday cake with layers of vanilla cake, with berries, lemon curd and the prettiest fresh and dried blooms.

Flower decorated Sugar Cookies
Sugar cookies are another birthday tradition in our family! I used simple round, square and numbered cookie cutters from the shop to cut the cookies, each decorated with royal icing piped floral decorations. Colors included soft pink, purple, green and white and they were flavored with fresh lemon and vanilla bean.

Flower & Fruit Cupcakes
I used my classic vanilla cupcake recipe, for the cupcakes, filled with homemade lemon curd and topped with lemon Swiss meringue buttercream. Decorated with fresh berries, lavender and babies breath.

One of our party guests told me that the cupcakes were the best they ever had, which completely made my day! Thinking I should share a recipe for them soon!

8″ Berry & Bloom Cake
And for the grand finale of desserts, another cake! This one was slightly inspired by a Victoria sponge in appearance, with 3 layers of vanilla cake. Each layer was topped with dollops of lemon SMBC, with fresh berries and edible and fresh blooms for garnish.

After what had been an extremely busy summer, it was so wonderful to spend some time celebrating the birthday girl and wrapping up what has been a wonderful season!

Here’s to 15! I have no doubt that the new year ahead will be an exceptional one for her!
