Amalfi Coast Inspired Birthday Party

Time is moving quickly! Our oldest daughter Amaia turned 14 years old in August and together we planned an Amalfi Coast inspired birthday celebration with close family and friends! These days she’s much less into themes but this dinner party was a good balance. We started with the dinner party concept, while incorporating many of her favorite things with Italian and coastal influences, from pops of blue, to all things lemon, striped and chinoiserie printed dinnerware and of course pasta and pizza with homemade marinara to capture the Amalfi vibes and dinner party feel.

Looking back on all the celebrations we’ve planned for Amaia over the years, this one surely has my heart and hers too!

Almafi Coast inspired Birthday Party

An Amalfi Coast inspired birthday dinner party, complete with Italian inspired decor, desserts and a dinner menu!

The Italian dinner party theme is very trendy at the moment and for good reason. Who doesn’t love the idea of getting together with your girls over a delicious Italian dinner and dessert?! That’s the exact vibe we looked to capture for Amaia’s celebration with friends and family. We kept decor pretty low-key to focus more on quality time. Yes, gone are the days of multiple games, piñata’s and activities. A bittersweet reminder that the girls are growing older!

Amalfi Coast Inspired Party Decorations

With an emphasis on quality time, decorations were scaled back, but a chic yellow and white balloon garland is always necessary! For the tablescape, we found decorative chinoiserie plates and gold cutlery on Amazon and striped blue and white paper napkins that surprisingly felt like linen.

Additional table decorations included blue and white linen table runners, lemons and fresh basil and oregano.

Chamomile and white rose flower arrangements.

 And authentic Italian lemon candies. 

We offered Limonata San Pellegrino and Lemon Sorbet Bubbly as refreshments. 

Along with Limoncello Spritz for the adults!

Amalfi Coast inspired menu

We designed the party menu around Amaia’s favorite foods, such as Margherita pizza and ravioli, with vegan and gluten free alternatives. On the menu was rigatoni, with spinach and burrata ravioli with homemade San Marzano marinara, along with Margherita pizzas on the grill!

A few appetizers included fresh garden veggies and tomatoes, burrata dip and caprese salad. 

Dessert

For the dessert menu, we focused on Amaia’s favorite treats, while incorporating flavors of Italian desserts, starting with cake!

Lemon Basil Cupcakes

We made lemon basil cupcakes, filled with lemon basil curd, topped with lemon frosting and lemon candy. Decorated simply with tile printed cupcake liners from Amazon. 

The cupcakes were soft and fluffy bursting with citrus flavor from the lemon curd and the candies on top were such a delish garnish!

Lemon Infused Sugar Cookies

The sugar cookies were infused with lemon zest in both the dough and icing for plenty of citrus flavor! Cut into lemon, gelato cart and #14 shapes then decorated with royal icing. Find the recipe for basic sugar cookies with royal icing here.

We also used the gelato cart cookies as a sweet parting gift!

Tiramisu Macarons

The Tiramisu macarons were absolutely delicious and perfect celebratory treat for coffee lovers. Inspired by the authentic Italian dessert, they’re filled with soaked lady fingers, a light cream filling and a dusting of cocoa powder.

Lemon Basil Mini Cake

Every year I use the remaining batter from party cupcakes to make a mini cake for the girl’s birthdays. Amaia wanted to keep this one simple with blue swirls similar to the coast or the ocean. We garnished with silver dragees to complete the look and tie in the party color scheme.

The Amalfi coast inspired treats looked especially cute when served on the matching dinnerware!

And the Gelato from local Sirena’s was the best way to end the night!

Coming off of a spectacular year, I’m certain that this new trip around the sun will be full of love, light, opportunity and so many continued blessings! Can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
