It’s hard to believe that our baby girl is officially nine years old. Honestly, it seems like just yesterday I was sharing details from her Spring in Paris first birthday and time has not stopped! Now here we are celebrating her with a 9th spa birthday party and even though time has gone fast, I’m grateful for the gift of more time at home this past year!
Mila has been so strong and brave throughout all the scary unknowns this past year. Always with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. That’s who our sunshine girl is at heart!
To know Mila is to love her. She has a warm and loving spirit, charm and wit and is always surprising us with her creativity, thoughtfulness and big heart.
She’s also a girly girl at heart, loves a good princess dress and anything glamorous, as you can see, especially the nails!
Since pink is holding strong as her favorite color, I made sure to incorporate the color scheme into her special family celebration and what a wonderful celebration it was!
For the first time in over a year, many of our family members were together in the same (outdoor) space, including my sister and darling niece who traveled up from California. I can hardly express the gratitude we all had for that day together!
To us there is nothing better than spending time with family. That was one of M’s birthday wishes and it came true! Now we’re just waiting on the Canadian border to reopen so we can reunite with our Canadian family soon.
SPA BIRTHDAY PARTY DETAILS
As a hostess at heart, I thoroughly enjoy creating special parties for our girls. I’ve been known to go all out with the decorations, food and desserts a time or two, but I admit how refreshing and relaxing it was to keep the decor and menu super relaxed!
Instead of creating our own menu, we ordered pizza, prepped some individual snack servings and I made a big batch of vanilla raspberry lemonade. This allowed us to maximize the time with our loved ones and keep things covid safe, while also celebrating our sweet nine year old!
SPA DECOR
Mila chose a pink and neutral color scheme for her ninth spa birthday party. I picked up some orchid plants, peonies, lanterns, and balloons for subtle spa details on our back patio.
SPA THEMED DESSERTS
Our dessert menus normally consists of cupcakes, cookies, mini cakes, macarons and sometimes more! This year we scaled it way back with cupcakes and macarons and she was more than happy about it!
The vanilla cupcakes had a raspberry jam core and a fresh raspberry frosting. I made some simple sleep masks out of royal icing transfers and once they dried, drew lashes on each and adorned the each cupcake with one. The cupcakes were also topped with fresh raspberries and gold sprinkles.
I used the leftover cake batter to make a small 2″ cake which is an ongoing birthday tradition for our girls. The mini cake was decorated the same way, but topped with a #9 icing transfer and an orchid flower.
I filled the French macarons with raspberry frosting and a fresh raspberry in the center of each, then dusted the shells with edible rose gold paint.
Make a wish!
The girls ended the evening with some time in a bouncy castle with their baby cousin and then we had cake and desserts by the fire which were a hit. All in all it was a special and memorable day spent being present, catching up, laughing, toasting and celebrating our sweetheart!
Up next a small spa party with friends! More on the way soon!

May I please have the exact recipe for the cupcake frosting that was used?
Hi there, I haven’t shared that recipe on the blog yet, but will work on posting one for spring. It is dairy free and made with organic shortening and fresh berry puree.
