On May 11th, Mother’s day weekend, my youngest turned 7 years old. We had a beautiful time celebrating with a Unicorn Kitten themed birthday party and now here we are…over a month later and halfway through June. How did that happen?!
Mom life is crazy these days! So much so, that I haven’t had the chance to blog about her birthday pics and invites as I normally do. So, today I’m sharing everything in one post- complete with an adorable outfit of the day, custom unicorn kitten invites and all the meowgical party vibes!
Invitations
Whenever I plan a celebration, I start with the invitations, thus allowing me to build the party theme around the custom design!
For this invitaion, I used an all white backdrop, with a simple pink border. I also stepped outside of the box and incorporated black into the invite design, featuring a cute unicorn kitten that became the focal point of the party.
Once we sent the invitation to our pawty guests, our next step was 7 year photos.
Each year as my girls turn a year older, we commemorate this special time with birthday photos! We picked a location and an outfit and snapped a few shots.
Below are a few favorites.
Annual birthday photos have become a sweet tradition for the girls and for me as well! As they grow older I know how much they’ll enjoy looking back on these captures over the years.
Birthday Outfit of the day
We lucked out finding a sparkly party dress at H&M on the clearance rack. Mila wore the dress with a pair of flats, heart shaped sunnies and a flower unicorn headband, which I will link below.
Unicorn Kitten Party
I know what you’re probably thinking! Not another unicorn party! And I agree! I must admit I was secretly hoping my girl would change her mind on this party theme. Since she didn’t, it ended up being 99% custom, because let’s be honest, no one out there is selling unicorn kitten party supplies.
Since the party was so personalized, it ended up being much less trendy, with some elegant details and her own personal stamp on the celebration! It was also a fun challenge, allowing me to stretch the creativity and get some good use out of my die cut machine.
Mila has always been our cuddle bug! She’s an old soul, known for her sweet smile, has the biggest heart, is incredibly musical and creative and always keeps us laughing.
The color scheme for the party was black, pink and white. This is typically out of my comfort zone, but in attempt to step away from trendy rainbow colors and metallics we gave it a try! I think it came together purrrfectly!
Party decorations
From custom confetti, to a balloon banner, a unicorn kitten decal, some pretty fresh blooms, and laser cut kitten tableware, the decorations sweetly! The goal for the party decor was simple, yet chic while still fitting for a seven year old.
For Dessert
I just so happened to design a unicorn kitten cookie cutter a few years ago, and I knew the shape would be a great fit for the party cookies!
I made my favorite sugar cookies. Find them here and dressed them up with royal icing and edible paint pens.
Decorated with royal icing!
We also made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with fresh raspberry frosting and raspberry curd. Topped with a fondant horn (and a cute macaron.)
Unicorn kitten raspberry macarons.
Plus a mini 3 ” unicorn kitten cake for the birthday girl!
The day of her party was actually nonstop! We ended up having 2 celebrations for Mila on the same day. The first party was with friends at a gynmastics studio, followed up by a small celebration at home and dessert hour with close family. We’ve been celebrating this way for the last few years and it’s such a fun way to extend the party and spend extra time with family!
The highlight of the party(s) was seeing the smile on mim’s face, while with friends at her favorite gymnastics location!
And of course this moment…
Make a wish!
The surprise tickets to see Jojo Siwa this summer was the icing on the cake and a sweet way to end such a magical day! Not too over the top on the unicorn trend but super fitting for my forever baby girl!
So glad I could pull it off!
Here’s to seven, sweetheart!
