It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 2 months since we moved to our new home. I envisioned having a good update to share with you all by now, that was wishful thinking on my part! Our construction journey took 7 months longer than anticipated, so we’ve been taking our time getting settled in. To be honest, we still have quite a few of boxes to unpack! My office is still unfinished and majority of our furniture has yet to arrive.
On the plus side, we finally got our address numbers up, my hubby spent a few days clearing our lot to improve our view and my office door is now a pretty shade of pink and our forever home is feeling more and more like home every day.
You may have noticed that the backdrops of my photos have changed over the last few months. I’m still getting used to the lighting here, which is a major transition from our old home. We were surrounded by trees and I had one tiny window and dark walls so natural lighting was always a challenge.
New Home
I’ve discovered a little corner in the kitchen of our new home where I love to shoot, because the natural light there is perfect. That’s the same place that I love to sit and enjoy my tea and meals while the sun shines in. Eventually that space will be a built-in nook for my little family of four, but for now I’m enjoying the openness.
Here’s a closer look at a few of my decorative details of our new home, including my pink office door. I’ll let you in on a little secret. The door is actually only pink on one side. This was a compromise that my hubby and I made, but I love how it turned out! I used PPG Paint in Powder Rose. The other side of the door is completely white.
My hubby and I decided on this modern 3-piece chandelier for our entryway. I think every home should have one major statement piece and this is ours. We chose it because it can be seen through the windows of our tower (stairwell) and truly fits the contemporary, yet elegant design of our home. The diamond like baguette lights and 3 tier design is my favorite part. When the sun light hits it, it sparkles.
This picture was taken on the night that we moved in. I set my self timer and tripod and ran back and forth jumping in the photo until we got a good shot. Kind of funny to envision but I loved that we captured this moment. Then, shortly after moving in I was able to remove that silly splint from my right hand. I wore that thing for 8 weeks after having tendon repair surgery and was happy to see it go! The timing couldn’t have been better.
Later this month you’ll be seeing a few changes around here. One of which, is making my posts and sources accessible to you all through affiliate links. What that means is that I receive a small commission for items that are purchased directly from the links that I share. With that said, you can now shop many of the items I blog about or share on instagram through the LiketoKnow.it app. Simply download the app and like and/or screenshot photos from my instagram page for product details. Brandi I love everything about your house. And while it’s not complete because it’s missing a few pieces furniture, with boxes still to unpack and a couple of rooms yet unfinished, you guys have made it a home. And what a home it is: so elegant with this modern chic appeal. I can see your posh touches everywhere from the pops of yellow in the outdoor pillows to the stripes of yellow on cactus planters that sit soaking up the sun on the kitchen window sill, to the lovely pink office door. That chandelier is magnificent and your thoughtfully chosen couch says whispers elegance but shouts comfort. There’s so much more I could say but I have to save some of my words for the next update. 🙂 Right now though…just WOW. <3 Stunning!
I’m super flattered and appreciate all the sweet words! Can’t wait to share more once we’re all settled in 💖💖
