What do you do when one of your closest friends is traveling to town with her brand new babe?! Throw a surprise baby shower of course! A few weeks ago, that’s exactly what I did, with the help of a few friends. And the best part, the new mama had no idea!
I offered to host the shower at my place and also was responsible for the festive desserts and decorations, a task that I gladly volunteer myself for whenever I have the opportunity.
We kept the party quaint with 6 of us girls total, and our babes. Most of us have known each other for 20+ years, so it’s always a good time when we get together, and always feels somewhat like a celebration since our visits only happen a few times a year.
The color scheme I decided on was, Navy, White & Grey. The decorations consisted of fresh white rose and mum arrangements, coordinating honeycomb balls in a variety of sizes, Silver baby letter balloons, and a sweet navy blue banner.
Since our new mama loves cheesecake, I made personalized mini NY cheesecakes with fresh blackberry sauce. They looked lovely in the navy and white baking cups. You can find those in my shop, here.
Since sugar cookies are one of the signature treats that I serve at my celebrations, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make some! Shaped with bow tie, mustache and onesie cookie cutters from my shop, and decorated with royal icing.
I used the leftover royal icing to make trendy marbled cookies, which I’m sure you’ve seen over on Instagram. Honestly I was a bit short on time, so I just picked up some organic OREO cookies from whole foods and dipped the tops in the white icing that I marbled using black and blue food colors.
I topped the cookies with silver edible glitter stars that can also be found in my shop.
Marble OREOS are a fab treat to make if you need something last-minute. They’re really quick to make and they’re absolutely beautiful when displayed.
The cookies actually ended up matching the blue marble party plates and napkins perfectly.
The marble partyware will be back in stock in my Etsy Shop next week.
Menus for our beverages and desserts were made using the Sophia callgraphy font in Photoshop.
The decorative “J” was for her son’s name, Jackson.
With all the visiting that we did, I somehow forgot to take pictures of all and the new baby together, which was a total fail on my part.
At least that meant more time spent snuggling her sweet boy. Oh how I miss having a small baby. Luckily I got my fix while she was in town.
Hope you guys enjoyed the pics! Have a fab weekend!
