Real Parties – Spring Kitten 4th Birthday
A few weeks ago we celebrated my youngest daughter’s 4th birthday, Spring Kitten style and I’ve finally gotten around to editing the photos. With family here from out of town to help us party, she couldn’t have had a more purrfect day!
As many of you know, I truly enjoy planning and styling parties, so our celebration for her included plenty of handmade decorations and details. Starting with the kittenvites that I shared here last month.
We went with a pastel color scheme and white backdrop for our dessert table. I found the faux fur fabric here locally which helped bring out kitten theme together.
White letters that spelled M E O W & P U R R came from Michael’s and I used them as our focal point for the dessert table and main centerpiece. I hot glued a pattern of faux blooms to each letter for spring-like vibes.

The rest of the decor consisted of a floral and gold bunting banner, multi color balloons, peony and rose flower arrangements, faux flower confetti, custom Spring Kitten prints and several DIY balls of yarn in shades of pink and white.
All the pastel tableware can be found in my shop!
On the menu. We went with an entire Mexican food theme for dinner, serving “fish” street tacos. My hubby also made homemade battered chicken tenders for the kiddos. My amazing mom, made an incredible mango slaw, fresh salsa and guacamole, which was gone by them time the party was over. I also made a homemade strawberry aqua fresca for all of our guests to enjoy!
And for dessert, I carried over fresh lime from our dinner theme and incorporated that into all the homemade sweets. We served homemade MEOWcarons filled with fresh strawberry & lime preserves. I decorated the macaron shells with kitten themed words like MEOW & PURR, and cute kitten faces.
Catnip cupcakes topped with custom catnip sprinkle mix from my shop. The recipe for the the vanilla cupcakes & cake that I made came from here. It’s really straight forward and delicious!
Because my daughter cannot have dairy, I substituted buttermilk for almond milk in the cakes and added fresh vanilla bean. The vegan frosting was made with fresh strawberry puree & lime zest for the cupcakes and the birthday girl’s mini cake.
Here’s a peek at my signature sugar cookies with royal icing, which are a part of every celebration of ours. Kitten and #4 cookie cutters can be found in my shop!

We served assorted kitten themed candies, like pink salmon fish gummies, organic saltwater taffy, and the most incredible gummy marshmallow mice that were imported from Sweden.
After the celebration was over, our guests went home with DIY kitten crowns that my sister and I made. I found the ears at Forever 21 and we glued on the flowers in a decorative design, to go with our theme.
In addition, our guests received custom Catnip sprinkle mix, for decorating cupcakes and cookies. Some cattoos (kitten tattoos), bubbles and a few extra little goodies for the road.
I love that we’ll have these special memories to enjoy and look back on as our daughter grows older. I can’t wait to share this post with her a few years from now!
Thanks so much for reading! We’ve got one party out of the way, and one more to plan this August, for my first-born. I’ll be sharing more on that in June! Have a lovely Thursday!
