Pop Fizz Cheers Posh
With so many highlights from 2013, I’m ready to start celebrating early! It really has been a great year and I have the perfect way to bid farewell. This perfection I speak of is in the form of a cocktail, because a New Years Eve celebration just wouldn’t be complete without em! Specifically bubbly (of course) and St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur.
If you’ve never tried St. Germain, you must! It’s a french liqueur that features floral notes and tropical fruit flavors that quickly became a favorite of mine. It tastes delicious on the rocks, but also adds a fun twist to a simple glass of champagne! And….how gorgeous is the bottle in black and gold?!
You most definitely don’t need to be a bartender or mixologist to make this cocktail. Just a few ingredients is all you’ll need to get the celebration started:
Posh Sparkling Cocktail
This cocktail is most commonly known as the Hummingbird, but I made mine omitting the seltzer water and using fresh squeezed lemon juice, lastly adding a sugar rim and blackberries for garnish.
The combination is sweet, bright and aromatic.
Ingredients
1 bottle of quality grade sparkling wine or champagne. (I chose Michelle Brut which is affordable and quite versatile. The sparkling wine is not too dry and has citrus notes pairing beautifully with the floral liqueur.
1 bottle of St. Germain Elderflower liqueur
Fresh squeezed lemon juice.
Blackberries for garnish.
Gold sugar for the rim and posh. This is certainly optional, but I couldn’t resist!
Instructions
Rim the edge of each champagne glass with lemon wedge and dip in gold sugar.
Pour each glass 3/4 of the way full with chilled sparkling wine or champagne.
Top the remainder of the glass with St. Germain Liqueur and a squeeze of fresh lemon.
Garnish each cocktail with blackberries.
And there you have it! A quick NYE cocktail, taking just moments to make and simple to replenish.
Pop, Fizz Cheers!
Now that you’ve got the cocktail down, I’ve noted a few tips to add the Posh element to your Pop Fizz Cheers NYE.
You can never go wrong with black and gold. Items like sequins and spangles, transform into sparkly confetti when combined.
Color coordinated print cards displaying simple words add an element of whimsy to any party. These cards can be made with your home computer and printer in just seconds. All you have to do is type, print and clip.
Other sparkly details like glittered clothespins that I made over the holidays add a touch of glam.
Use mix and match glass and serving ware for a signature look.
You can find the gold chevron paper straws in my Etsy Store.
This year for NYE my hubby and I will not be hosting or staying in. Instead we’ll be celebrating with a group of friends over a late night dinner at a restaurant and casino. What do you have planned? I’d love to hear!
Cheers and Happy New Year friends!
