This post has been sponsored by McCormick®. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Fall is in the air! Cue the warm spices, holiday gatherings, and freshly baked desserts. Let’s not forget about those festive beverages either, like today’s Spiced Apple Pie Sangria. With Thanksgiving just 4 weeks away, I have you covered with a new beverage recipe that’s fitting for the holiday and perfect for serving a crowd! This recipe also happens to be inspired by everyone’s favorite fall dessert.
Spiced Apple Pie Sangria
This Apple Pie Sangria is made with fresh apple cider, a trio of seasonal apples, and a trio of delicious spices from McCormick, that I picked up at Safeway.
From vanilla extract and cinnamon to cloves, this lightly sweetened sangria packs a delicious punch and features all the cozy notes of dessert in sipping form.
In addition to the warm spices, this sangria is mixed with red wine for body and fresh granny smith, honey crisp, and macintosh apples for more of that apple pie goodness—sure to be enjoyed with every sip!
McCormick Spices
I chose to use McCormick brand cinnamon, cloves and vanilla extract in this recipe because their products are naturally sourced and non-GMO. In addition, McCormick is an iconic brand that everyone knows and loves—so I knew I could rely on their line of spices to achieve the apple pie flavor I was looking for.
All of their seasonings were easy to find in the spice aisle at Safeway. I also enjoy using Safeway’s mobile app for ease in checking on grocery deals and sale items.
After picking up the cinnamon, clove, and vanilla extract, I simmered the spices with apple cider to not only give the cocktail more flavor but to fill our home with comforting aromas of fresh baked pie. I can’t think of a better way to welcome friends and guests for the holidays than with a glass of the sangria in hand.
You’ll want to add this easy sangria to your Thanksgiving beverage menu for all of these reasons and more!

Apple pie sangria made with fresh apple cider, a trio of apples apples, red wine and seasonal spices.
Ingredients
For the Sangria:
3 3/4 cups apple cider
1 1/2 bottles of mild red wine.
3 apples cored and thinly sliced. I used, 1 Honey Crisp, 1 Granny Smith and 1 Macintosh apple.
Juice from 1 lemon
2 tsp McCormick Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 tsp McCormick Cinnamon
1/2 tsp McCormick Cloves
For the Garnish:
Lemon Wedge
1/4 cup raw sugar
1/2 tsp McCormick Cinnamon
Instructions
Heat the apple cider, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon and cloves in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a light boil and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Remove from heat and allow the apple cider to completely cool. While the apple cider is cooling, core and slice the apples and prep the lemon juice.
Once the cider has cooled, place the apples in a pitcher and sprinkle with a little extra Cinnamon and Clove.
Pour cooled apple cider mix over the sliced apples and stir.
Pour in the red wine, stirring all the ingredients until fully incorporated.
Cover the sangria and place in the fridge for 4-6 hours.
Upon serving, rim the edge of the wine glasses with the lemon wedge. Roll the glasses in the Cinnamon sugar mixture and set aside to set.
Ladle the sliced apples into the bottom of each wine glass.
Pour Apple Pie sangria over top of the sliced apples.
Garnish with a dash of McCormick Cinnamon.
Enjoy!
Notes
Make it sparkling! Easily add bubbles to this spiced sangria by topping each glass with a little champagne or tonic!

The best red wine for sangria
Choose a wine that you love! Because you’ll most likely be adding additional flavors to the sangria, I recommend a red wine that is fruit forward but not overpowering. A preferred selection is Pinot Noir or Merlot as both naturally have fruity notes and will pair well with so many different flavors. Stick with a medium priced red wine for best value and quality.
Sangria is an ideal beverage to serve at holiday gatherings because it can be made in advance in larger quantities and requires very little fuss! Simply pour in wine glasses and toast to all the flavors of the season!
Cheers!
