I’m sitting here feeling shocked that Thanksgiving is just under a week from today. Fall has literally blown by and the weather is feeling more and more like winter as of late. There’s been plenty of changes going on behind the scenes in my life, including a new schedule to adjust to, turning a year older, and nursing a sick baby and myself back to health…hence the quiet here over the last few weeks. But, on the plus side, I’ve had some down time brainstorm new concepts for posh, which means that I have quite a few new posts and ideas lined up for the holiday season. No need to wait any longer! I’m kicking it all off with something simple and sweet Figs, that you can make quickly and enjoy thoroughly next Thursday, no matter how you choose to celebrate.
Figs are such a gorgeous fruit to photograph and serve and I’ve been dreaming up making something with them for some time. With me being in a current state of last-minute everything, transforming this jammy fruit into a quick dessert that can quickly be adjusted into an appetizer is a win win! Figs are naturally pretty so I didn’t want to transform them too much. Just a few decadent ingredients to kick them up a posh notch or two, including dark chocolate for dipping. Serve them alongside your favorite dessert wine, or atop a little vanilla ice-cream, for an elegant finish to your Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving celebration.

Jammy figs infused dipped in rich dark chocolate and sprinkled with sweet and savory toppings. The bitter chocolate balances the sweetness of the fruit with toppings for crunch.

- 1 cup Dark Chocolate (Dairy Free can be found at Trader Joes)
- Toppings: Raw unsweetened coconut, sea salt, zest from 1 orange and chopped pecans for crunch.
Instructions
- Slice figs into halves.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Heat dark chocolate in a double boiler or in 30 second intervals in the microwave, until fully melted.
- Dip fig halves in dark chocolate and top each with toppings. Raw coconut, sea salt, orange zest or chopped pecans.
- Set aside to cool and allow the chocolate to harden, about 30 minutes.
- You can make the figs in advance and place them in the fridge in a sealed container for a few days if you choose, however they turned out best for me when made the night before.
- Serve with your holiday cheese course, favorite red wine, or use them to top ice-cream.

You can quickly transform these figs into a sweet & savory appetizer by thinly slicing and dipping them in dark chocolate and serving alongside goat cheese and crackers. There’s something about the sweet figs, paired with the bitter dark chocolate and salty goat cheese that will satisfy every taste bud! I recommend making plenty because they’re sure to go fast.

I do my best to limit my dairy intake so I made the figs using dairy free dark chocolate but that’s totally optional. Of course adding in the goat cheese certainly doesn’t help, but we all deserve to splurge sometimes amiright?!
I hope you give these figs a try this Thanksgiving! They’ll certainly add a sophisticated element to your already fabulous menu. I’m looking forward to making them again next week!
More on the way soon!
