Sugar Cookie-gram

My daughter’s 3rd Birthday is only 6 days away and since I’ll be busy prepping the entire week, I’ll be photographing via Instagram and blog posting from my iPhone. Loving technology these days!

As you may already know, the theme for her party is Cinderella and one of the items on our dessert menu among many others is sugar cookies. I always try to do as much as I can in advance so I made these cookies last night and plan to freeze and get them decorated by the weekend.

Princess Party Sneak Peek ~ Cinderella

My oldest daughter is turning 3 next month and we’re throwing her a Cinderella themed birthday celebration complete with the glass slippers, fairy wands, a mini coach carriage and Cinderella printables that I found on this fabulous blog. We chose a color scheme of periwinkle, silver and pink and plan to add in many other details sure to make her fairytale dreams come true.

Flowers in Bloom

This has been quite a busy week for me and with little time to photograph my projects I put Instagram to use to capture a few shots of the gorgeous flowers I’m designing for a wedding this weekend. Here’s a little glimpse.

The brides bouquet will consist of these romantic red roses.

Chocolate dipped Fruit ~ red, white & blue

If you’re hosting a 4th of July celebration, here’s another festive and super easy red white and blue inspired treat that your guests will love!

White Chocolate Dipped Fruit

Supplies/Ingredients~

Fresh Bing Cherries and Blueberries

Bakers White Chocolate (or any other quality white chocolate of your choice)

Parchment Paper

Directions~

Line a cookie sheet in parchment paper and set aside.

Wash fruit and pat dry using a paper towel.

Melt white chocolate in 30 second intervals in microwave, or over a double boiler.

Dip berries in chocolate and place on lined cookie sheet.

Place in fridge to harden, at least 1 hour.

Leave chilled until ready to serve.

These literally lasted only seconds in my house. I hope you enjoy!

Shortcake stuffed Strawberries

Strawberry season has arrived and the 4th of July is only a few days away. I have plans to host a small group of guests at my home for the holiday this year and needed to come up with a simple yet chic dessert, fitting for our celebration. With a fridge full of berries and my favorite dessert in mind, I came up with a simplified bite size version of Strawberry shortcake, ideal for easy entertaining and our holiday of red white and blue.

Shortcake Stuffed Strawberries

Supplies/Ingredients~

Strawberries

Blueberries

Store bought angel food cake

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 carton whipping cream

Zest of 1 lemon (optional)

Bakers White chocolate (optional)

Mini star cookie cutter

Toothpicks

Ziplock bag

Directions~

Wash strawberries & blueberries and pat dry.

Using a paring knife, remove the center core of each strawberry and set aside.

Whip heavy cream on high using a stand or hand mixer.

While heavy cream is thickening, zest the lemon and grate one square of bakers white chocolate.

Once whipped cream has thickened, fold in powdered sugar, lemon zest and grated white chocolate and place in a ziplock bag for piping.

Cut a corner off the ziplock and pipe a dollop of whipped cream into each strawberry, filling  3/4 of the way full.

Using a mini star cookie cutter, cut angel food cake into star shapes and insert half way into each filled strawberry.

Skewer one blueberry onto each toothpick and insert diagonally through angel food star.

Cover in plastic and chill until ready to serve.

Make ahead and serve this delicious dessert at your outdoor Fourth of July celebration. Bite size, easily transported and no utensils necessary. Happy Fourth!
